BTS: I'm burning everything down & starting from SCRATCH ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Little mistakes are OK; their client work might be better.โ€

This is what a friend told me when she showed me the homepage of a web designer she was considering hiring.

I had just pointed out that the website LOOKED pretty but had some obvious functional issues: the header font was hard to read, and the page wasnโ€™t mobile-responsive.

Shouldn't a WEB DESIGNER that you're about to drop serious cheese on have considered these things????

And while it's true that the cobbler often has no shoes โ€” I donโ€™t always subscribe to that mindset.

And thatโ€™s when it hit me: while Iโ€™ve been busy building top-notch systems for others, I havenโ€™t updated my own in a while.

AND THAT'S WHY:

๐Ÿ”ฅ I'm burning everything down, starting from SCRATCH, and taking you behind the scenes as I'm doing it

โœˆ๏ธ I'm using my new system to support the rebuild. I'm rebuilding the plane as I fly it ... its been meta.

๐Ÿ“„ Thinking of revamping the structure of your main offer? Keep reading...โ€‹
โ€‹

Here's what's been rollin' around in my brain lately:

๐Ÿง  I'm getting clear on my main offer: Highly custom systems that support your CLIENT JOURNEY

(aka, from the moment someone becomes a lead aaaaaaall the way until you say goodbye / sign them up to work with you again)

๐Ÿง  I can sell systems ala cart... and it makes guud guud sense to just sell it as one giant juicy package.

๐Ÿง  I want to REBUILD all of the systems that support that offer.

SO WHAT IS STEP ONE?

Process mapping y'all.

What does this client journey LOOK like?

I often use a visual mind map with clients for this, and behind the scenes, I organize my thoughts in a Google Sheet.

โ€‹
โ€‹This time, I used Airtable to process map my client journey.

(more on the reasons why next week)

I listed out every single step of the process.

HERE IS A LITTLE BIT OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:

Process mapping is always the first step.

Process mapping is essential because it:

  1. Clarifies Workflows: It gives a clear visual of tasks, roles, and steps, reducing confusion.
    โ€‹
  2. Spots Inefficiencies: Identifies bottlenecks and redundant tasks, helping streamline operations.
    โ€‹
  3. Ensures Consistency: Standardizes processes for reliable, repeatable results.
    โ€‹
  4. Supports Better Decisions: Helps visualize changes and their impact on the business.
    โ€‹
  5. Boosts Collaboration: Improves communication by defining who does what.
    โ€‹
  6. Ensures Accountability: Makes roles and responsibilities clear to everyone.
    โ€‹
  7. Prepares for Growth: Creates scalable systems as the business expands.

In short, process mapping makes work smoother, faster, and more organized, especially as businesses grow.

Next week - I show you SUPPORTING MATERIALS COLLECTING.

Stay tuned!

In the meantime - want me to process map your systems?!?!?!

Enjoy the day!

A break from our regularly scheduled programming, to gush about all of the IN PERSON biz bestie hangs I had last week <3 I felt so much community and care, experienced so much joy just talking shop with other business owners, and had a few big โ€œAHAโ€ moments that will have a major impact on how I run my business. Last week, I wrote an article ROASTING Monday.com. I received several responses by email and LinkedIn that validated my theories and claims ๐Ÿ˜Ž I also received a few emails like this one, asking me what project management tool I DO recommend: FAIR. The unsatisfying answer: it depends. (You knew I was going to say that, huh?) Like all tools, it depends on a ton of factors, like: The size of your team The type of work you do Your budget Your goals And honestly, your vibes. BUT I won't leave a pal...
