My dreamy week in NYC

A break from our regularly scheduled programming, to gush about all of the IN PERSON biz bestie hangs I had last week <3

I felt so much community and care, experienced so much joy just talking shop with other business owners, and had a few big โ€œAHAโ€ moments that will have a major impact on how I run my business. I am a virtual coffee chat queen, but there is something so different about being with each other in person.

I started the day having breakfast with Jac White.

I am REALLY excited about one of her newer services - The Close Call. The concept is simple yet genius, I canโ€™t believe I havenโ€™t seen an offer quite like this before: She reviews the recording of your sales call and then provides custom feedback. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ‘Œ

New here? I'm Devin Lee

I optimize your offers by removing you as the bottleneck so you can serve more clients without sacrificing quality.

Next, I met up with Jade Pruett for coffee.

She and I Voxer so much now, it was amazing to finally meet in person!!! I love hearing the latest updates about her newest company: MetaMonster. I already do heavy marketing for my business through my weekly newsletter and blog, and soon I will be utilizing MetaMonster to ensure my content is optimized for SEO & AI ๐Ÿค–

Then I headed over to lunch and a Dreamers + Doers event with Ciara Siegel & Faith Morris.

Ciara is a current client of mine, and this week she officially opened the doors to The Brand Builders Bootcamp!!! It was such a high to see her first applicants sign up in REAL TIME while we were having lunch together!

I have been working with Ciara for months to help build the backend systems so this Bootcamp runs smooth as silk once it starts. Having spent so much time inside of Ciaraโ€™s biz recently, I have been able to see firsthand the care and extreme detail she puts into tailoring branding and messaging for her clients.

I am so impressed with how she was able to turn her 1:1 service into something that allows members of her Bootcamp to create SHARP positioning themselves with her close guidance. Itโ€™s the best of both worlds: Ciaraโ€™s strategy and guidance, but the ability to take ownership and make your branding your own.

It was soooo good to see Faith in person this week after working on a big project with her earlier this year. Faith calls herself the second brain for founders with small teams, and after working with her I KNOW thatโ€™s true.

If youโ€™re eyeing your next hire, check out her Hiring Prep & Audit. In one month, she helps you figure out who to hire next and how YOUR role shifts once theyโ€™re in. ๐Ÿง

I ended the day with dinner with Lynn Juangโ€‹

I don't even have a photo because our convo was TOO ENGROSSING!

Lynn and I both have a background in the art world, so we really connect on the intersection between business and creativity.

Lynn waxed poetic about how creative teams are often too siloed from the rest of the team, and how Operations can do a better job of bridging the gap.

And since Iโ€™ve shifted to working with creative agencies that have teams (instead of just solopreneurs), she gave me SO much to chew on: how I bring teams into my work, how to get their buy-in, and how to set them up for success once I start designing their training.

She even helped me come up with a new title for myself (ANNOUNCEMENT COMING SOON).

It's been a while since I've had a day that inspired me to think about my own business in new ways.

Iโ€™ve already made so many updates to how I work with agencies so I can go deeper, and now I have even MORE ways to upgrade the work.

Quick refresher on what I do: I map how your agency runs today, from the first sales call through offboarding. Then I build the tech stack and central hub that holds it all, and I train your team so it sticks.

I do the strategy AND the build, and I stay until your team is running it on their own. You get to stop being the person everyone pings for answers.

โ€‹
Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s new for 2027:

๐ŸŽค Team interviews. Before I build anything, Iโ€™ll talk to the people doing the work every day. They know exactly where the process snags, and I want to hear it straight from them.

๐ŸŽ“ Training designed for YOUR team. Iโ€™ll build it around what your people will be running and how they learn, so it fits like it was made for them (because it was).

๐Ÿ”ง A new+improved maintenance package. When our 6 months wrap up, your agency keeps growing. This keeps me in your corner to check in and tune things up as your team changes.

Last week, I wrote an article ROASTING Monday.com. I received several responses by email and LinkedIn that validated my theories and claims ๐Ÿ˜Ž I also received a few emails like this one, asking me what project management tool I DO recommend: FAIR. The unsatisfying answer: it depends. (You knew I was going to say that, huh?) Like all tools, it depends on a ton of factors, like: The size of your team The type of work you do Your budget Your goals And honestly, your vibes. BUT I won't leave a pal...

I have a theory about Monday.com ๐Ÿ˜Ž For years it felt like I saw them everywhere I went: Billboards, sponsored on Google searches, YouTube commercials, ETC. But ya know where I never saw Monday.com? Being used by my clients or talked about in my communities. At best, I would hear about it on a coffee chat. Someone would say they set it up but no one is really using it, OR it feels glitchy. Most of the tech experts / builders like myself that I know won't touch it with a 10-foot pole. So how is...

This time two years ago, I hit a sudden surge of growth I wasn't expecting. I got a lotta new clients, fast! Exciting! It took me a year too long to accept that I also needed to grow my team to take on the projects I was booking. I felt the quality of my work slip and my stress level rise as I attempted to meet the demands of the work I had booked for myself. I knew I could take on fewer projects, but to be honest that just DID NOT SEEM FUN! So I had to move to STEP 2 - Get More Team! I now...
